Asks the industrialists to get their water treatment plants operational in 2 months

Environment and Education Minister of the state Mr. O.P.Soni has said that he would reach out the industrialists across the state to settle the environment related issues as the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has decided to ensure the cleanness of water resources as top priority.
Today in the meeting with industrialists associations from the Jalandhar , which mainly comprising sports, Leather segment, the Minister asked the industrialists to get their water treatment operational in coming 2 months as after that there would be zero tolerance policy against the water pollution by the environment department.
The Minister has also informed that a joint high level meeting would be held alongwith the Industry Minister on June 21 at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh to chalk out a comprehensive plan for future course of action with an aim to save the natural resources as well as encouraging the industry in Punjab.
Later on talking to media persons, the Minister said that he has also visited the Budha Nalah at Ludhiana to assess the actual situation besides instructing the PCCB and Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana to prepare the effective plan in 15 days to end the decades long water pollution in the nalah.
The Minister has also said that the Environment department has decided to raise the issue of non functioning of water treatment plants within the jurisdiction of Municipal corporations as the main source of water and air pollution occurred due to the wastage of the cities. He also said that the being the autonomous bodies, Local Bodies across the state could played a key role in saving the environment.
Earlier various industry organizations have submitted their memorandums to the Minister, on which the Minister assured them to raise with the Chief Minister.
